How do you verify my identity as part of a credit card application?

When you apply for a Virgin Money Credit Card, we need to check that the person applying is who they say they are, so we know we're processing an application for the right person, and to prevent money laundering. 

We partner with Mitek, an identity verification service, who help us to safely and securely confirm your identity online.
The process is simple:

• We'll let you know what documents we need, usually a photo ID such as a passport or a driving licence
• You'll need to take a selfie video showing your face
• Take a photo of your ID document and upload it
• We'll let you know if your documents have been accepted and will continue your application

Using Mitek to carry out these checks makes the process quicker, as you can upload these documents straight from your smartphone.

Mitek keeps all of the data secure, and once they have verified your identity they delete all copies of your ID documents and selfie.

We may share your contact details with Mitek and they will share identity verification information with us, all part of the verification process when applying for a credit card.
