Headstart accounts are designed for children. Adults or children can deposit money into a Headstart savings account using cash, cheque, or bank transfer. If you're managing the account on behalf of a child, you can also set up a standing order for regular deposits or withdraw money. Withdrawals can be made in branch or over the telephone on 0800 0857652.

When the child is about to turn 17 we'll notify them and the adult operating the account and let you know next steps.

If we don't hear from you by the child's 17th birthday, we'll switch the account to an Instant Savings Account. This new account will be frozen until we've received updated ID and a signed Transfer of Authority form from the saver and the adult operating the account.
