Jumpstart accounts are designed for children. You can deposit money into a Jumpstart savings account using cash, cheque, bank transfer or standing order. Adults can set up standing orders to make regular deposits.
If you're the adult managing the Jumpstart savings account, only you will be able to make withdrawals from the account in a branch. However, once young account holders turn 11, they'll be able to take over their account and apply for a debit card, withdraw money in branches and use their debit cards to buy things or withdraw money at ATMs.
Once the child turns 17, we'll get in touch to talk about switching their account. If we don't hear from them, we'll automatically switch their account to an M Account. We'll freeze this account until we've received updated ID.
