Here's what you need to do before closing your account:
• Repay any money you've borrowed
• Repay any outstanding charges due on your account
• Transfer all the money in your account and linked saver to another account
• Redeem any cashback or reward points you've earned in our app
If your current account has a linked savings account, this will close automatically when you close your current account.

There are different ways you can close your account:

Online
You can close your current account using our online form.

Using our app
You can also close your account using the Virgin Money Mobile Banking app:
• Tap the Profile icon at the top of the screen
• Select ‘Account Profile & Settings’
• Select ‘Close an Account’
Follow the steps on screen and we’ll take it from there.

By phone
You can get in touch with us by phone, and a member of our team will help you close your account.

In Branch
Visit your nearest Virgin Money branch and a member of our team will help you close your account.
You’ll need to bring your:
• Current account card or savings account details
• Identification, like your passport or driving licence
• Chequebook (If you have one)

By post
You can send a letter to any Virgin Money branch asking us to close your current account.

• Signature

Current Account Switching Service

  • You should make closing an account easier rather than having to fill in a form and wait!! Not necessary these days with all the OTPs that are in place.
  • I am trying to close my account, but I do not have a UK phone number, address or another account in the UK, so I cannot close the account, T
  • I’m using an I phone and there is no profile icon in my app.
  • I'm looking to close an inadvertently opened fixed rate bond account. There is nowhere on this site that explains how to shut it down.
